Been horribly sick!

First cup of tea in two days (hair hasn’t been brushed in two days either!)

Ughhh! I’m sitting here in bed, writing this, with ribs that feel bruised and a headache that feels like I’ve drunk a fair few glasses of Poitín the night before! These are the after effects of a gastroenteritis that started on Friday night through to Sunday morning and it’s reasonable to say I NEVER want to go through this again, I’m far too old to feel so horrid!

Highlights of said gastroenteritis:

  • No sleep for 39 hrs
  • Constant severe nausea, vomiting several times then dry wretching hourly
  • 17 poop episodes
  • No food for 40 hrs but did manage sips of water

Sorry, you probably feel rather queasy after that!

Somehow, I managed to not have an accident in the taxi getting to a evening Dr yesterday who perscribed me “Cyclizine Hydrochloride” to reduce my nausea so I could finally get some sleep.

But here I am, having had my first cup of tea and piece of toast in two days and on the mend and the headache will eventually go so all is well….mostly! My eldest daughter really took care of me and even instigated the out of hours doctors appointment. Today she is still checking in on me….what an angel.

In many ways today has been rather lovely as I am having a proper day of rest. I’m taking time to have a slow day, take in fluids, lots of dozes and reading. The curtains are billowing, there is a lovely breeze and it is pleasantly warm.

I’m remembering Sundays as a kid, Mums lovely Sunday dinners and going for a walk in the sunshine afterwards.

All will be OK.

C xxxx

  1. Sorry you’ve been so sick. Glad you’re on the mend. That ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ feeling must be so very welcome!

  2. Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell Carolyn. How awful, without having the heat to contend with too. Glad you are on the mend and hope you are soon back to normal. Your hair looks fine by the way! Babs x

  5. Glad to hear you’re on the mend, allow yourself as much time as you need to rest and recover (and don’t worry about your hair 🤗).
