Thank you for this. Reminders of my 50s childhood in UK. It recently occurred to me that my grandparents went through the hardships of 2 world wars. No wonder they learnt self sufficiency!
My late Mum, who was born in 1945, also had childhood memories of dried eggs, which I guess must have prevailed with the continued rationing after the end of the war. I seem to recall she didn’t like the stuff very much, though I’ve subsequently read it wasn’t universally hated.
