  1. Yum! I love the simplicity of the food you eat. I found this blog entry about how many calories to eat, and although it is very vague, it does say that to lose weight you should aim for 500 calorie deficit a day, 250 from food and 250 from exercise, something my nutritionist has said as well. This is the website: http://blog.goodlifefitness.com/?p=5561

Here is another one recommended by my nutritionist. Is has a formula to figure out how many calories you need to maintain as a starting point. http://www.livestrong.com/article/309238-how-many-calories-are-supposed-to-be-consumed-in-a-day/

I hope these help you bust through Plateau 🙂

  2. Carolyn, you really need to add some fat into this. People get weird on the issue of dietary fat, but low fat is not the same as no fat. We all need a certain amount of fat to run our bodies. Getting good fat is the issue as apposed to having almost none Go eat an avocado or a salad with a dressing made with olive oil. You may well find that adding in some healthy fat will cause you to start losing weight again. Metabolism is a much. much, more complex system than “calories in, calories out” no matter what the “experts” say. I’d love to chat about this with you personally so e-mail me at my FB page or at my personal e-mail address. I’ve posted to your blog a million times so you know I’m an “OK Joe” to use an old WWII phrase 🙂 I am safe to talk to and I’m also a nurse with additional training in nutrition.

  3. Thank you for this information and ideas! I had read them etc but completely forgot to respond. Sorry!! xxxx

Marina- I checked out these links and they will be very useful as reference indeed! xxx

Mary- I’ve increased my fats a little by introducing some fresh organic nuts on a daily basis (they had limited supplies in the 1940s) and they did have some olive oil so today I made a nice dressing on my huge salad with olive oil and apple cider vinegar and some herbs- very nice!

    I’ll find you on Facebook!!!

    C xxxx
