15 lbs dropped in 28 days

Just a quick update to let you know how I’m getting on with the 60 day fitness challenge” we are doing at work.

As part of the fitness challenge I have turned vegan for 60 days and am walking for 40 minutes nearly every day. I’ve been recording my daily calories out of interest and they are coming in between 1800 and 2200. I’ve eradicated all junk food and am sticking to basic wholefoods and lots of vegetables.

Instead of regular milk I am using almond milk and there are no eggs, meat or cheese.

There were vegans during WWII and infact the word VEGAN came about during WWII.

Up until now I have been experimenting with different regular recipes but this weekend I turn over to eating 100% authentic wartime recipes (converting them to vegan)

I’ll still be doing meat recipes too as my youngest Hobbit Emily really likes them!

A special thanks to “Liz Mednick” who has been sending me some wonderful recipes to assist me in eating wartime vegan! I can’t wait to start trying these out and to of course share them with others!

  1. I admire your dedication but I am a little concerned at the speed at which you are losing weight. I know you don’t know me and you don’t owe me any explanation but just be careful okay? The success stories I’ve heard about and what I’ve experienced myself show that slow and steady weight loss, 1-2 pounds per week, is the safest and most likely to be maintained. Good luck and take care!

  2. Thank you everyone xxxxx

Beti- yes my weight-loss was quite a lot in the first couple of weeks 6 lb then 4 lb BUT last week and this week it has been 3 lb and 2 lb which I think is hopefully what will be my regular weekly weight loss…

I’ve been keeping a food diary of everything I put in my mouth to make sure I am getting calcium and protein, omega 3, fibre (no problem there!) etc and my daily calories intake is on average around 2000 calories (the daily recommended calories to maintain body weight is funnily enough 1940 !!!)

But with me being nearly 300 lbs of course I use more energy moving my bulk around so of course I probably use closer to 3000 a day in energy..

i THINK I’ve got the balance about right… I feel GREAT! (in comparison to what I was feeling like a month or so ago)… I had been off the 1940s plan for many months you see and had gained weight and was eating junk.

Today I am planning my 1940s menu and working out how I can integrate things like lentils and beans (instead of meat) into the recipes I have…

I REALLY appreciate your concern and am working hard to make sure I get enough energy and minerals/proteins etc especially with currently being vegan

I’ll have an updated post tonight about how I am implementing the next 30 days as a 1940s vegan..
