Woman of steel (well today anyway)

Today I felt invincible…. Today I feel like I may indeed have some Kryptonian in me. Just call me the “Woman of Steel”..

OK so I didn’t metamorphosize inside a phone booth and fly “up, up and away” into the sky, nor did I catch children falling from tall buildings, I didn’t even lift a fully laden passenger plane with one hand BUT I did say no to a plate laden with burgers and buns and potato salad when we had a FREE lunchtime BBQ at work today…. even to the FREE chocolate ice cream for afterwards I said NO.

Instead I ate my salad and my fruit and even drove out to Indian Garden Farms to buy a bag of sugar snap peas that I could munch on all afternoon..

Yes I felt sorry for myself, yes I wanted burgers, yes I think I may have even pouted but I know in my heart I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to lose my fatness forever….

Today was a triumph… today I had super powers and today is another day conquered ..

  1. LOL!!! Thanks all! Sugar snap peas are wonderful raw… get them when they are real fresh though!

OMG I soooo wanted burgers though!!!! TeeHee xxxxx

  2. As an aside…have you read Nella Last’s diaries? Am reading the first Nella Last’s war and it has some great insights into wartime life and a few mentions of food in there too 🙂

  3. I listened to the first two of Nella Last’s diaries, and I absolutely loved them! She was a wonderful writer, and I am so fond of the pitter patter about her home life.

  4. OOOOOOOO :)- No I have never heard of that…do you have a link for some more info? Thanks so much!!!!!! xxxxx

  5. Definitely seconding Nella Last’s books – they are pretty much on constant re-read here. 🙂 There are 3 books: Nella Last’s War, Nella Last’s Peace, and Nella Last in the 1950s.

Go you! Well done on passing up burgers and (I don’t know I could have passed this up) chocolate ice cream! Keep up the good work.

  6. Good on you, Carolyn 🙂 I have read the Nella Last books – she has a unique way of writing (I think she was a little eccentric but way ahead of her time, and had a lot of insight). BTW, have you also thought of drinking the apple cider as a tonic = two tsp with a warm glass of water, add a little honey – 2/3 times a day – supposed to be a great detox. I’m going to give it a go. http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acvinegar.html Take care, Bev 🙂

  7. Whoops, Carolyn. I mean using apple cider vinegar as a tonic, not apple cider (the alcoholic drink). My wee fingers were going a bit too fast there!!!

  8. I was just thinking how to better take the apple cider vinegar as I am getting fed up in sprinkling it over my salads and veggies…. the tonic way sounds great!! I’ll give that a go

BTW I feel good!!!!! Much less tired than I did last week! xxxx

    Thanks for that tip Bev!
